A PACKED programme of activities will take place across libraries in Inverclyde to mark Book Week Scotland 2025.
Inverclyde Council’s libraries service is organising a fun line-up of free events to celebrate the wonder of books, in partnership with Scottish Book Trust.
Book Week Scotland 2025 starts on Monday, 17 November, and there will be activities for adults and children across local branches until Saturday 22 November.
The programme includes talks by special guest authors, a murder mystery event, big book quizzes, and Bookbug sessions.
Every primary one pupil in Inverclyde will also receive a Bookbug Family Bag at their local library or in school.
The bag contains a selection of great picture books with activity resources.
Councillor Jim Clocherty, Inverclyde Council’s convener of education and communities, said: “Book Week Scotland is a great way to celebrate books and reading and our libraries’ service have devised a packed and varied programme of events for adults and children, which are all free to attend.
“Reading has so many benefits and can be really transformative to people’s lives and that’s why it’s so important we do all we can to encourage and inspire reading.”
Now in its fourteenth year, Book Week Scotland is an annual celebration of books and reading that takes place across the country in November.
During Book Week, people of all ages and walks of life join together to share the joy of reading across hundreds of unique, exciting events and activities that celebrate the transformative power of reading.
They are joined in this celebration by Scotland’s authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers and illustrators to bring events and projects to life.
The full programme of events happening in Inverclyde is below and while events are free, some must be booked in advance.
