Moving On Inverclyde is calling on the people of Inverclyde to take on a once-in-a-lifetime challenge this spring and help raise vital funds to support local people in recovery.
On Saturday 21st March 2026, participants will abseil 100ft down the iconic Falkirk Wheel as part of SBH Scotland’s exciting charity event.
This adrenaline-filled event offers spectacular views across central Scotland and an unforgettable experience for anyone looking to push themselves for a good cause. No prior experience is required, as fully trained instructors will provide expert guidance and support throughout, ensuring every participant enjoys a safe and exhilarating descent. Family and friends are welcome to attend and cheer on participants, with a café, viewing areas, and accessible facilities available at The Falkirk Wheel site.
Every penny raised will go directly towards the work of Moving On Inverclyde, a local recovery charity that supports individuals rebuilding their lives after drug and alcohol addiction. The organisation provides counselling, wellbeing programmes, peer support, and recovery-focused courses that empower people to move forward with confidence and hope.
Funding is vital to everything Moving On Inverclyde does — the charity’s services are entirely reliant on community support and charitable donations. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps make a real difference:
£10 – Buys a SMART Recovery Handbook
£25 – Buys a STEPS to Excellence Handbook
£55 – Pays for a counselling session
£170 – Funds a SMART Recovery Satellite Licence
£250 – Provides lunches for a week’s delivery of STEPS
£330 – Pays for a block of six counselling sessions
£650 – Buys a SMART Recovery Licence
£1,500 – Funds a Trauma Resource Course
£2,500 – Delivers a full STEPS to Excellence course
£3,000 – Creates a trauma-informed counselling space in the Port Glasgow office
A spokesperson at Moving On Inverclyde, said:
“Recovery doesn’t happen alone. It takes community, compassion, and support. This event is a chance for the people of Inverclyde to quite literally take a leap for recovery, raising funds that help us continue offering life-changing support to those who need it most. Every pound raised truly matters.”
