Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde (HSRI) is an award winning, early intervention/prevention family support charity, providing primarily volunteer peer to peer support, working alongside parents and their children to improve family life. We train our local volunteers, usually parents themselves to empower parents to self-manage, with support, to achieve better wellbeing outcomes for themselves and their children.
Our support involves regular home visits, group work and intensive support, with assistance encompassing access to services such as housing, literacy, and welfare benefits. We work with adults who have at least one child under five.
Families are usually referred through a health professional, social work services or self-referral. Our supported families often face barriers to engagement and are amongst the most marginalised in society. We work with parents coping with multiple challenges: physical and mental health difficulties, social isolation, distressed child-behaviour, post-natal depression, unemployment, poverty, and trauma. We are connected and integrated within our local communities and see first-hand the inequalities faced by too many families.
We offer weekly home-visits to families for as long as families need it – these are carried out by our trained volunteers. Volunteer visits offer vulnerable parents the time and space for a supportive chat, play time with children, practical help and reassurance and linking to other local services and activities. We also deliver 6 weekly groups across in Inverclyde including Perinatal, ‘New to Scotland’ for families who have recently come to live in Inverclyde, Dads group, Parents group, Family group and ASN/Neurodiverse group as well as our targeted cost-of-living support designed to support low-income families.
Additionally, we deliver a range of evidence-based self-development programmes for parents and volunteers to increase confidence, self-awareness, parenting skills and self-esteem. Programmes include but not limited to; Infant First Aid, Equip for Life Coaching, Mellow Bumps, Trauma Informed Training, Cooking skills and Suicide Prevention.

Scotland’s Premier Marina has 620 protected pontoon berths, all facing the prevailing wind, available 24 hours a day seven days a week for vessels up to 24m with a maximum draft of 3.5 metres. All pontoon berths are serviced with 240v power and fresh water points.
The pontoons and wide water access channels make life very straightforward for manoeuvring your vessel within the Marina. So if you are looking to stay for just a few nights or something more long-term, we are here to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
The Marina office is open 24h, 365 days of the year. All visitors should contact the Marina office on or before arrival to arrange a suitable berth by calling 01475 521485 or VHF Channel 80.
We have a 50-ton Wise boat hoist which can accommodate up to 5.9m beams. For smaller crafts, there is a 30-ton mobile crane that is also used for stepping/unstepping masts. New to Kip this is our 7-ton boat shifter.
The yard accommodates up to 150 boats on hard-standing cradles. It is our policy to store masts off the vessels whilst they are ashore. Electricity and metered electricity are available in the storage areas.
Diesel fuel and gas are available 24 hours through Marina Reception. Night Security personnel are on duty to deal with immediate requirements outside of normal business hours.
In our Chandlery, we have a comprehensive range of clothing. We have technical sailing wear from Gill, Musto, Helly Hansen, Pelle P and Dubarry. Beautiful windproof tops and knits from Holebrook and great-looking jackets from Lighthouse which are ideal for shore walks.
