The Newark Trust is a grant-making charity that aims to improve the lives of people in Inverclyde. The trust’s name is inspired by the historic Newark Castle, which symbolizes a re-igniting of community spirit that the charity hopes to emulate.
The Newark Trust works to fight hardship and disadvantage in Inverclyde by providing financial support to local organisations, charities, and constituted groups that align with its mission to create a positive future for the people of the area.
Our two main focus areas, which are supported throughout the year, are (1) fighting child poverty and (2) assisting children and young people with additional support needs. We also run a Community Places Fund annually to help organisations make changes to the place where they meet or provide their service.
Ambition, integrity, collaboration and empowerment are the key values that underpin the charity, and we work proactively through relationships and local networks to identify local projects and organisations to support. We believe that relationships with the organisations we support are hugely valuable and play a big role in our determination to be open and trusting grant-makers.
Crann Taic SCIO is a Scottish charity with a simple but vital purpose: supporting other charities. Taking its name from the Gaelic for “support,” Crann Taic provides finance and digital expertise to third-sector organisations across Inverclyde and beyond, helping them run efficiently, stay compliant, and spend more of their time and resources on the causes that matter to their communities. We recognise that many charities and community groups are rich in passion and commitment but stretched thin when it comes to the specialist skills that keep an organisation on a sound footing.
Their mission is to strengthen the wider charitable sector by making professional finance and digital support accessible to those who need it most. By handling the essentials from financial management and reporting to digital systems and tools, they allow free fellow organisations to focus on delivering their services and growing their impact. In doing so, they aim to build a more resilient, sustainable third sector where good causes can thrive.

Overall, our main goal is to provide high-quality services that support individuals and families affected by mental health issues, ensuring they receive the care and support they need to lead fulfilling lives.
Our vision is to invest in people and support positive mental well-being. We aim to achieve this by providing high-quality therapeutic services not just within Inverclyde, but also beyond.
Our mission is to deliver these services in a manner that upholds our core values. We prioritise integrity, supporting and empowering individuals in an open and transparent way. Furthermore, we aim to make our services affordable, offering high-quality support at low costs. Inclusivity is another key value, as we strive to reduce barriers and provide accessible services. Additionally, we are dedicated to promoting mental health equality and reducing discrimination in the community.
To drive our mission forward, we have identified several key objectives. The first objective is growth, as we aim to expand our service delivery across businesses, communities, and individuals. Collaboration is another important objective, as we actively seek partnerships with other organisations to facilitate our expansion within Inverclyde and beyond. We also strive to reduce stigma surrounding mental health, both locally and nationally. Lastly, we aim to expand and develop training programs across communities using trauma-informed principles.
