The free, family-friendly event is on Saturday 29 November
Greenock town centre will play host to a magical free Christmas event next month.
An afternoon of street theatre, magical characters, light projections, live music, entertainment, displays and workshops will take place on West Blackhall Street on Saturday 29 November.
From 2pm till 5pm, the street will host a range of free, family-friendly fun with local businesses encouraged to take part by organising their own unique in-store events and special offers.
On the day, West Blackhall Street will be closed from Westburn Street to Laird Street, with entertainment planned along the whole street.
Greenock Festive Fun Day will celebrate the recent £6 million upgrade of West Blackhall Street which saw the pavements upgraded, extra public seating, new trees and planters and a new cycle lane installed.
Councillor Michael McCormick, convener of environment and regeneration said: “This event is something new for Greenock and I’m sure it will be popular with families.
“We want to bring people into our town centre to enjoy everything that we have here and support local businesses and this free event is an ideal way to do it.
“This will be a great way to start the Christmas festivities and I’m sure there will be a great turnout on the day.”
Inverclyde Council is working with businesses on West Blackhall Street to make sure they can make the most out of the event.
Other Christmas events organised by Inverclyde Council include a specially extended event at Port Glasgow to celebrate Port Glasgow 250 with full details coming soon.
