Inverclyde Council is looking to recruit support staff experienced with working with children with additional support needs (ASN) to support its summer club.
The council is keen to increase the number of places available to children with ASN over the summer holidays but needs to hire more staff in order to do this.
Councillor Francesca Brennan, vice-convener of education and communities said: “Families who have children with additional support needs deserve support all year round and particularly over the holiday periods. We know how important it is to parents that we increase support for children with ASN during holiday times and that’s why we are putting out this call so that people can come forward as staff to be able to offer this.
“We know the difference that holiday provision can make to families during the holidays - for the children themselves and for their siblings and parents. It is really important that we get this right.
“If you, or someone you know, fits the bill and would be keen to get some extra work during the summer, please get in touch.”
The contract is for four weeks from Monday 30 June until Friday 25 July 2025. Staff would be based at Craigmarloch School and would work between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Flexible working and part-time hours are available.
The minimum qualification required is SVQ LEVEL 2 Playwork but SCQF LEVEL 5 or above in Childcare would be accepted. However, please get in touch with us if you feel you have the relevant experience and we will talk to you about options.
Previous experience working with children with additional support needs in an out of school service, school setting or early years establishment; excellent communication skills both verbal and non-verbal; and knowledge of health and regulations would all be welcomed.
