Scotland’s GDP in real terms during the second quarter of 2021 grew by 4.7% compared to the previous quarter. Over the same period, the total UK GDP grew by 4.8%.
In the latest quarter, output in the services sector grew by 5.2%, output in the Production sector grew by 3.5%, and output in the Construction sector grew by 3.3%.
Scotland’s economy is estimated to have grown by 21.7% over the year, compared to the second quarter of 2020 (when the economy was at its lowest point after the initial impacts of COVID-19). Over the same period the UK
GDP grew by 22.2%.
Compared to the same quarter last year, Services have grown by 19.8%, Production has grown by 20.2%, Construction has grown by 67.8% and Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing has grown by 5.0%.
