Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has welcomed a new company to its membership to support its continued growth.
Dales Marine Services is the latest business to join the Chamber, following the ongoing expansion of its Greenock yard and took the opportunity to show ICC President Gavin McDonagh and Senior Vice-President, Robert MacDonald around the expanding site.
The firm is one of the leading UK Ship Repair and Maintenance companies, operating five drydocks within Scottish ports at Aberdeen, Leith, Grangemouth, Troon, and the Garvel Dry Dock at James Watt Dock, Greenock.
These facilities provide dedicated support to the global marine, oil & gas industries, the chemical sector and renewable energy sector.
The Company has built a considerable client base, servicing customers across the UK and internationally and construction recently started on a new engineering workshop at their Garvel yard.
Clients using the Garvel facility includes ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne, Serco, and Western Ferries as well as a number of UK and International barge owners including Norwegian well boats serving the salmon fishing sector on the west coast of Scotland.
Greenock Operations Manager, Billy Pollock who lives in Port Glasgow said:
“Dales Marine Services has steadily grown our business at the Garvel in Greenock since 2014, following the acquisition of Forth Group Ltd and I’ve been delighted by the changes here.
“Since then, and trading as Dales Marine Services (Greenock) Ltd, we have become a relatively large and important employer in the area.
“We are in the middle of a £5m investment programme into the Greenock site to further enhance our operation and support our bid to win more business.
“We feel that we can further contribute to Inverclyde’s economic regeneration and especially now being connected as a member of Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce to further assist with their aims to grow and support the local business community.”
ICC President, Gavin McDonagh said:
“We are delighted to welcome Dales Marine as the newest member to Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce and this exciting business is laying foundations to support its growth and longevity within Greenock.
“A big focus for ICC is to grow our membership as part of our new 2019-2024 strategy, and we continue to enjoy a growing interest in the Chamber’s activities as we support and champion local businesses.
“It was fantastic to look around the facility and understand the scale of operations and we look forward to working closely with Dales Marine in the future.”
