If the answer is yes then you could benefit from using the basic disclosure service from Disclosure Scotland.
Basic disclosures cost £25 and are available to everyone regardless of their job or volunteering role. The applicant gets a certificate showing any ‘unspent’ criminal convictions they may have which they can then pass on to you. Unspent convictions have to be declared by applicants.
The aim of not just a basic disclosure but all disclosure types is not to simply prevent an individual from gaining employment or to further punish them for previous offending behaviour. It is about helping employers make safer decisions when they’re recruiting, whilst allowing individuals to move on from their past and contribute to society.
