Basic disclosures cost £25 and are available to everyone regardless of their job or volunteering role. The applicant gets a certificate showing any ‘unspent’ criminal convictions they may have which they can then pass on to you. Unspent convictions have to be declared by applicants.

The aim of not just a basic disclosure but all disclosure types is not to simply prevent an individual from gaining employment or to further punish them for previous offending behaviour.
