Inverclyde Council is offering to fund employer training/awareness-raising events, making them free for local employers to take part.
The courses are:
1. Rethinking Recruitment
Training aimed at considering how to make the recruitment process more inclusive to disabled candidates, with practical examples and advice on inclusive advertising and selection processes. There is a focus on how to make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process to ensure equality.
2. Disability Awareness
Providing a general understanding of what we define as a disability, what disability means, and how it affects people. Participants will learn how to support current and future employees with disabilities, giving an oversight of responsibilities under the Employability Act. The session will also allow participants to gain knowledge about the many benefits of having a diverse workshop.
3. Autism Awareness
This training will provide participants with a better knowledge and understanding of the Autism Spectrum Condition and how to work with employees and customers who are on the Autism Spectrum. Participants will gain an understanding of the characteristics of autism and the “social model” of thinking. The session will deal with inclusive recruitment and how to make the recruitment process autism friendly, as well as promoting inclusive working partners. The session will also deal with the common misconceptions about autism.
