Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce (ICC) met with Dales Marine Services at its Greenock branch to review its ongoing local investment programme and future local opportunities.
Andrew Malcolm, Business Development Manager of Dales Marine Services (Group) gave newly appointed Chief Executive of Inverclyde Chamber, George Mckay a site tour.
Dales Marine Services first opened in Greenock in 2014 and continues to invest and expand its Greenock yard with around £5m going into its Garvel Point site.
The visit also focused on some of the challenges Dales’ currently face but also the opportunities that exist for the business going forwards.
The firm is one of the leading UK Ship Repair and Maintenance companies, operating five drydocks within Scottish ports at Aberdeen, Leith, Grangemouth, Troon, and the Garvel Dry Dock at James Watt Dock, Greenock.
These facilities provide dedicated support to the global marine, oil & gas industries, the chemical sector and renewable energy sector.
The Company has built a considerable client base, servicing customers across the UK and internationally and construction recently started on a new engineering workshop at their Garvel yard.
Clients using the Garvel facility includes ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne, Serco, and Western Ferries as well as a number of UK and International barge owners including Norwegian well boats serving the salmon fishing sector on the west coast of Scotland.
Reflecting on the visit, Andrew Malcolm said:
