Planned Engineering Work At Carstairs

Planned engineering work at Carstairs is set to take place between the evening of Friday 3 March and Tuesday 30 May 2023 which means LNER services will be unable to serve Motherwell and Glasgow Central.

During this twelve-week period, Network Rail Scotland will carry out improvement work at Carstairs Junction.

It’s part of a wider ongoing project which includes re-configuring and renewing the existing track, along with associated signals and overhead lines.

The project – which has already seen the start of track renewals and overhead line installation work – will improve punctuality, infrastructure reliability, and line speeds on routes between Glasgow and Edinburgh via Carstairs.

The following alterations will apply to LNER services from the evening of Friday 3 March until Tuesday 30 May 2023
