Former Provost Robert Moran has been elected as Inverclyde Council’s new leader.
The Scottish Labour elected member has been appointed as the local authority’s head after council leader Stephen McCabe stood down from the post last month.
Councillor Moran was first elected to Inverclyde Council in a by-election in the mid-1990s but lost his seat at the next election.
He was then re-elected in 2003 and has served as a representative for his current ward, Inverclyde East Central, since 2007.
The long serving councillor was the area’s Provost between 2012 and 2017 and has also held a number of senior positions on the local authority’s various boards and committees.
