Ambitious Inverclyde businesses can learn from one of Scotland’s most accomplished businessmen next month (November) when Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce (ICC) launches a new event format, ‘An Audience With’.

W Robin G Barr, the former Chair of Irn-Bru parent company A.G. Barr, will share the secrets of his and his family’s success at a special evening to be held in Greenock’s, The Albany in what will see the launch of the new networking format for Inverclyde.

Organised by Inverclyde’s leading business network, ICC this new event format promises to be inspirational for entrepreneurially-minded individuals who will hear about the journey of the Barr family, as well as Robin’s successes having first joined A.G. Barr in 1960.

The proud family business was created in 1875 by Robert Barr, and the Barr family has long been the lifeblood of the company. Robin was Chair for 31 years and a director for 44 years before stepping down in 2009, having overseen the growth of its brands and Irn-Bru as the nation’s favourite soft drink. Robin remains a part of the business as a Non-Executive Director.

The organisation, which was founded over 140 years ago in Scotland and is an FTSE 250 business, operates across the UK and Internationally with its wide range of brands being delivered from ten UK sites and with over 1,000 staff.

The event format is the newest addition to the ICC networking offer, growing on the ‘a look into’ roadshow series launched in October 2019. In August, ICC shared its new five-year strategy focused on enhancing the Inverclyde business network and its membership.

ICC plans several events through the “An Audience with” format in the coming months, with leading entrepreneurs sharing best practice, advice and future trends.

‘An Audience with Robin Barr’ takes place at The Albany in Greenock on Tuesday 12 November 2019 from 17:30 – 19:30. Tickets are £2.50 and limited to 150.

The event is open to both members and visitors of Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce.
