Scotcrest, a leading local manufacturer of traditional Scottish gifts, is thrilled to announce a dynamic collaboration with The Wyllieum, a cultural hub dedicated to the legacy of renowned artist George Wyllie, located in Greenock. This partnership will bring a unique range of locally crafted products to The Wyllieum, while simultaneously fostering community engagement and promoting the rich heritage of Inverclyde.
Scotcrest has designed a bespoke product line exclusively for sale at The Wyllieum, featuring a captivating blend of George Wyllie’s iconic artwork printed on canvases and coasters. In addition, a “Greenock Icons” range will celebrate the town’s landmarks, showcasing stunning images of the Titan Crane, the Free French Memorial Cross at Lyle Hill, and local maritime scenes. Visitors to The Wyllieum will be able to explore these unique items at a dedicated Scotcrest
product display, proudly branded “Hand Made in Greenock / Inverclyde.” The display will also feature a link Scotcrest’s comprehensive database of Clan information, enabling Wyllieum staff & volunteers to assist cruise ship passengers and visitors in researching their clan history, crests and tartans.
Willie Sutherland, Head of Operations at The Wyllieum, is passionate about expanding the facility’s role in promoting artistic participation across the community. Plans are underway to develop the ‘upstairs basement’ for arts and crafts activities, with Scotcrest committing to supply the materials for wooden fridge magnets. This initiative will provide an opportunity for volunteers, staff & cruise ship visitors to assemble some of the products in the spirit of The Wyllieums mission to source locally sourced merchandise, “Created in Inverclyde” and available for purchase at The Wyllieum.
“This collaboration is about more than just creating beautiful products,” said Neill Hunter, Managing Director at Scotcrest. “It’s about demonstrating the power of partnership and networking between local businesses and organisations. We want to inspire people to get involved in manufacturing, retail, and social enterprise, showing how collaboration can be transformative and create win-win situations for everyone involved.” Willie Sutherland added, “We are delighted to partner with Scotcrest on this exciting venture. By working together, we can offer our visitors a unique experience that celebrates local art and heritage, while also providing valuable opportunities for community engagement.”
