Scotland Goes Global: £500K Boost for International Trade Partnership Between Scottish Government and Business
Backed by an investment of up to £500,000, Scottish Chambers of Commerce to lead business community to supercharge exports, build new trade alliances, and open doors for Scottish companies across the world.
The Scottish Government and the Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC) have today announced an ambitious extension of their partnership to accelerate Scotland’s export growth and global business footprint. Backed by an investment of up to £500,000, the initiative will help more Scottish businesses reach international markets and seize new trade opportunities.
Building on the success of previous joint efforts to drive internationalisation, this enhanced collaboration will support Scottish firms to explore new export markets, deepen trade relationships, and promote Scotland as a dynamic, innovative nation to do business with.
The partnership will focus on strengthening business-led trade missions, in-market support, global connections, and investment opportunities. The SCC Network has delivered over 100 trade missions, supported over 1,200 Scottish companies to enter new markets with projected sales of £40 million.
Dr Liz Cameron CBE, Chief Executive of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:
“Scotland is open for business – the world wants what we have to offer and we welcome the Scottish Government’s partnership and support.
“As the global economic landscape continues to shift, this level of investment underscores a shared commitment to putting Scottish business at the heart of global trade. Our joint focus will be on securing new export orders, establishing alliances and widening our business connectivity across existing and emerging markets.
“Business participants in Chamber missions know first-hand the value these missions bring to prospective exporters to create warm leads and open doors to the right contacts. This support and expertise will help our businesses to go global and inspire more companies to trade with confidence on the world stage.”
Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes said:
“During these turbulent times it is important that we are actively backing our excellent Scottish exporters to succeed overseas and reminding our international partners that Scotland is open for business.
“The International Trade Partnership has been a successful platform for new exporters to find new customers overseas. We are delighted to expand access to the scheme to enable even more Scottish companies to succeed in international markets.”
