Residents in Inverclyde are being encouraged to recycle natural trees ahead of the twelfth day after Christmas.
Tomorrow, Friday 6 January 2023, is the twelfth day after Christmas which is traditionally when people pack away their festive decorations.
Natural trees can be recycled at Inverclyde Council’s two depots at Pottery Street in Greenock and Craigmuschat Quarry in Gourock.
Both centres are open Monday-Sunday from 08:00 – 18:00 and are where a range of other items, including garden waste, paper, cardboard, textiles and glass, can also be recycled.
Councillor Michael McCormick, the convener of environment and regeneration, said: “For those who haven’t done so already, this weekend will be when many people will be packing away their decorations and sticking them in the cupboard or loft until the end of the year.
“Real Christmas trees can be easily recycled at our two recycling centres and will be turned into compost over time.
“Things like wrapping paper, boxes and other items leftover from Christmas can also be taken to the recycling centres, particularly if people’s bins are full.”
The last entry to both recycling centres is 15 minutes prior to closing.
Due to the size of the site, Craigmuschat may temporarily close from time to time to allow for skips to be emptied.
