Waverley’s Funnels Lifted Off As Refit Continues At Dales Marine
Removal of Funnel
The paddle steamer Waverley’s iconic funnels have been removed as work progresses on the much-loved vessel’s boiler refit at Greenock.
The funnels were lifted out and placed on the quayside at ICC members, Dales Marine Service’s yard at James Watt Dock.
The next stage will be to remove an area of the deck and an internal bulkhead to allow the boilers and generators to be hoisted free from Waverley.
Work on the steamer is expected to take several months and follows a successful £2.3million appeal last year to reinstate the steamer.
