ICC Welcomes Morton Club Together As Its Newest Member

Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has welcomed a new business to its members to support its continued growth.

Morton Club Together (MCT) is the latest organisation to join the Chamber, following its recent success in seeing over 400 supporters pledge over £165,000 to Greenock Morton Football Club.

MCT was launched in July 2019 by Morton supporter, Graham McLennan and its members’ money is already being funnelled into the first team.

Founder and Director, Graham McLennan said:

“Morton Club Together is all about moving Morton forward. A strong Morton is an integral part of the Inverclyde community and contributes to the local economy on many levels.

For example, a successful Morton creates jobs and nurtures local talent, delivers trading opportunities for local satellite firms and suppliers and attracts visitors to the area.

“Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce, with over 15% market share of the Inverclyde business base as members, shares our passionate belief that we can all contribute to a better, more ambitious and more successful Inverclyde.

“In the case of MCT, we and our members are doing this by contributing to what we hope will be a better, more ambitious and more successful Morton.

“Joining the Chamber is our way of demonstrating this belief and showing we want to play an active role, alongside other businesses. We hope that many more local businesses reciprocate by joining Morton Club Together.”

MCT is aiming to raise £400,000 for Morton over the next two years, in a deal with the clubs’ parent company Golden Casket, in return for a 15 per cent shareholding in the club and to help clear approximately £2.5 million debt.

Business can secure a range of marketing and PR benefits and help improve Morton for as little as £500 or larger pledges too.

Inverclyde Chamber is the largest business membership organisation in the area, which provides regular networking events, national policy and local news updates as well as connecting local organisations together to improve their business and the area.

ICC President, Gavin McDonagh said:

“It is fantastic to welcome Morton Club Together as the newest member to Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce and we applaud the progress that has been made to-date by the fund.

“A big focus for ICC is to grow our membership as part of our five-year strategy, and we continue to enjoy a growing interest in the Chamber’s events, membership and activities as we support and champion local businesses.

“We look forward to further supporting MCT look forward to working closely with Graham and his team in the future.”

Recent local businesses to sign up for the MCT fund include The Robert Kerr Partnership, Port Glasgow Golf Club, John Paul Flynn Catering and Tweetiepie Media.
