Light Up Inverclyde

Ardgowan Hospice is asking people to show the other side of Inverclyde this December and shine a light.

At 6pm on 6th December 2020, the Hospice is inviting individuals and businesses to come together to ‘Light Up Inverclyde’.

Much like other annual hospice events this year, COVID-19 has unfortunately impacted the ability of the Hospice to safely host its usual December Light up a Life campaign, service and tree lighting ceremony.

However, rather than shrugging its shoulders and quietly switching on the Christmas Tree lights this year, they’ve decided to go big and Light Up Inverclyde!

Not only will it be an opportunity to remember loved ones, but the Hospice hopes it will also be an opportunity to join together as a community to celebrate the “other side of Inverclyde” – the side that may not have been shown and celebrated during recent national coverage, the side that has:

  • Supported local charities when they have struggled this year;
  • Set up grassroots community aid groups;
  • Kept an eye out for neighbours living alone;
  • Hosted fun virtual events to keep our spirits raised;
  • Kept our shops and services running no matter how difficult the situation became; and
  • Been a light throughout the darkness.

Let’s Light Up Inverclyde and remember our loved ones while celebrating the amazing people that make up our community right now.

Individuals

At 6pm on Sunday 6th December, we want you to shine a light. You can light a candle, put a lamp in your window, wave your phone torch at your door or even switch your Christmas lights on for the first time this winter. If it lights up, you can light up Inverclyde! Don’t stray too far from your phone/computer though, as the Hospice will have some virtual elements to the evening which they hope you will enjoy!

Remember to grab a picture of your light and tag the hospice on social media and we’ll share your photos. If you don’t use social media, you can also email your pictures.

Businesses

The Hospice would love to see the support of local businesses, especially if they are able to light up their building.

The Hospice would like to do some press stories so if you’re planning on lighting up your business for Ardgowan Hospice, please contact them here.

You can download and post images on your social media here. The Hospice will also add your company name so it reads “*company name* are Lighting Up Inverclyde”.

Simply send a quick email to fundraising@ardhosp.co.uk and they’ll make the changes and send your personalised copy over.
