Member News: Home Fix Scotland Continues To Break New Ground

With the sun shining and lockdown easing, government guidance and restrictions mean that the upkeep of community spaces remains more important than ever.

To aid this transition, Home Fix Scotland’s Environmental team has been busy pulling out all the stops to ensure outdoor spaces around many of their housing complexes remain safe and accessible.

Many people will have noticed a sea of red shirts descend across Inverclyde as staff got to work lawn cutting and implementing weed control services, alongside some hedge, shrub and border maintenance.

During the last four weeks, the team have covered large swathes of ground across the region including Kilmacolm, Oransey Avenue, Port Glasgow town centre, Slaemuir, Marloch Avenue and Barmoss to name but a few.

Maintaining the availability and accessibility of green spaces can have a positive effect on people’s mental health whilst the team’s effort has not gone unnoticed as they continue to combat a backlog of ground maintenance work following its suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Tam Rough, Contracts Manager at Home Fix Scotland praised the group’s relentless work over the last month.

He said: “We’ve had a lot of great feedback from our customers and the ground maintenance staff have done an excellent job, especially given the recent rainfall and we’ll continue to do all we can to guarantee the upkeep of community spaces across Inverclyde.”
