MM Search Proudly Supports New Robert Burns Statue

MM Search, Scotland’s award-winning executive search firm, is proud to support the creation of the National Statue of Robert Burns for the 21st Century.

The statue has been commissioned by the Greenock Burns Club (The Mother Club), which has the proud accolade of being the world’s oldest Burns club and is endorsed by the Robert Burns World Federation in association with the American Scottish Foundation.

The statue is to be located on Greenock’s waterfront where it will form the focal point of a proposed Burns-themed heritage and leisure trail, which will encourage visitors and celebrate the area’s natural beauty.

The statue is to be created by Professor Alexander Stoddart FRSE, the Sculptor in Ordinary to His Majesty The King in Scotland.

Designed in bronze, this work of art will symbolise Inverclyde’s deep connection to the Bard and celebrate Greenock’s status as the birthplace of the Burns movement.

“Inverclyde is very important to Ken and me,” says Founding Managing Partner, Derek MacFeate.

“We were both born and bred in the area, and I recently joined the Board of the Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce. It is a source of huge pride that we can now help to gather support for a project that promises to highlight Greenock’s history while helping to regenerate the iconic waterfront.

“Over the next year, we will collaborate with the Greenock Burns Club and the Robert Burns World Federation to help raise awareness of this sculptural masterpiece.

“We are honoured to have been invited to join the project’s subcommittee alongside inspirational business people such as Lord Malcolm Offord and Sir Boyd Tunnock.

“We look forward to helping commemorate one of Scotland’s most famous sons while breathing new life into an area that’s very close to our hearts.”

“We’re very pleased to have Ken and Derek involved in this historic project,” says Elliott McKelvie, Secretary of Greenock Burns Club.

“Their involvement with our club and commitment to the Inverclyde area is a great example of how charities and businesses can collaborate successfully to really make a difference to communities.

“We look forward to developing this significant project with them as we work towards raising funds to create a world-class sculpture for Greenock.”

“Giving back to the community through sponsorship, fundraising and events is a huge part of MM Search,” says Founding Managing Partner, Ken Morrice.

“Projects and societies that benefit the local community are hugely important to the MM Search team, and the business supports several charities and sports clubs.

“In 2023, we will continue our sponsorship of the Greenock Wanderers Rugby Football Club. In February, we will also be hosting our Ellie Soutter Gala in support of the Ellie Soutter Foundation.

“We will also be supporting more inspirational sportspeople through MM Athletes.

“This newly launched initiative enables us to help sports enthusiasts across a diverse range of disciplines to reach their full potential.”
