Round Britain Climate Challenge Roundtable

With the eyes of the world on the UK this year and especially on Scotland and Glasgow for COP26, it is important that we seize the opportunity to lead the way.

We are at an undeniable turning point in our planet’s history, and in the history of humankind and we have to seize the profile we will get on the build-up to COP to showcase the very best climate solutions and initiatives.

In response to this urgency, Conservation without Borders are organising the Round Britain Climate Challenge. A high-profile, ground-breaking, double world record attempt by Sacha Dench (aka ‘the human swan’ & UN Ambassador for Migratory Species) to circumnavigate the country in a paramotor with a 3-vehicle media ground crew – all using green electricity.

The world record attempt will:

  • Showcase the Best of British– the diverse range of people, businesses and organisations already turning the climate emergency into an exciting challenge.
  • Provide compelling content to local, regional, national and international media for 6 weeks from 17th May – from the air, from the ground and even underwater.
  • Collaborate with the UNFCCC and COP26 to deliver powerful real-life and emotive climate stories to delegates that will influence critical policy decisions before and during COP26.
  • Engage youth and potential entrepreneurs in the national conversation
  • Promote a second world record attempt of the most pledges to act on climate change in 1 month via our global alliance with Count Us In
