Roundtable With Secretary Of State For Scotland

SCC Roundtable With Alister Jack

Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce (ICC) attended a virtual meeting with the Secretary of State for Scotland, Alister Jack MP, as he joined a roundtable meeting with 25 of the Chamber Network Chief Executives.

Mr Jack was also joined by his Undersecretary in the Scotland Office, Douglas Ross MP with ICC represented by Director and Junior Vice-President, Andrew Bowman in a session hosted by Scottish Chambers of Commerce (SCC).

In what was an engaging and wide-ranging meeting, the Secretary outlined his views on a variety of issues including the future of Scotland’s tourism, transport and Oil and Gas sectors, the support mechanisms put in place so far, the ongoing discussions and the relationship between the UK and Scottish Governments.

Mr Jack took away a number of points to feed into the UK Cabinet and Cobra meetings which were being held later on today (Thursday).

SCC is submitting a formal letter to Alister Jack MP to follow up on all of the Network’s key policy representations and will continue to keep the wider Network updated on progress.

The meeting was a further development following the regular SCC discussions with the UK Government to raise member concerns over current support for businesses.

Thanks to all of the businesses that have been in contact with ICC to raise their concerns or issues.
